Am I Allergic to Wool?

Lanolin allergies can commonly be misidentified as wool allergies. Most wool is naturally coated in lanolin, which provides it with its water shedding ability. If you suspect you are allergic to wool, you can request lanolin patch-testing from your doctor to narrow down the cause of allergic reaction. Additionally, hypoallergenic wool is available. Angora wool is collected from Angora rabbits, which do not have the same glands as sheep and therefore their wool lacks the lanolin coating commonly found in sheep’s wool.
